My excuse for painting on a beach was that I couldn’t paint outside, as my watercolor would freeze in winter. The crystals were exciting but they didn’t last. I discovered the water line against the horizon was just like the Midwest. And then the blues filled my palette like never before. This is also where I learned about the painting secrets of reflections.
